Over at the Hollywood Reporter they have released the first official images of the Lego Hobbit Movie Minifigures. The figures will be displayed at the upcoming Comic-Con 2012 and will be released as part of Lego sets as of December 1st 2012.
Hobbit Minifigures
The Lego Group have started releasing sets and minifigures from the Lord Of The Rings sets already but none so far have featured scenes or characters from the prequel movie/book, The Hobbit which will be released as two films, the first beginning this December 14th.
Part one of a two part series, The Hobbit : An Unexpected Journey tells the first part of The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien and features Bilbo Baggins (as played by Martin Freeman) as he unwillingly journeys away from his nice comfortable Hobbit home, across Middle Earth to fight and conquer a dragon who resides on a rather large amount of stolen Dwarf gold.
Bilbo is the uncle/cousin (it is unclear how exactly he is related) of Frodo Baggins who featured prominently in The Lord Of The Rings and this prequel story tells how he came to be in possession of the One Ring which caused so much trouble for Frodo.
Lego Hobbit Movie Minifigures
The Hobbit Lego minifigures pictured below will feature in an as yet un-named set and continue to set the standard for beautiful Lego design and detail.
The figures include Gandalf, Dwalin, Bombur, Bofur, Bilbo and Balin. You may remember that one Lego set in the current wave of Lord Of the Rings Lego sets features “Balin’s Tomb” rather prominently (Mines Of Moria).
