The Lego Olympic Minifigures have been officially launched today, appropriately named Team GB to represent this year’s host nation- Great Britain.
Lego created the limited edition series of minifigures to accompany their wildly successful regular series of collectible minfigures as a way of celebrating the Summer Games of the XXX Olympiad which will take place in and around the city of London from 27th of July to the 12th of August.
The figures will be presented in the same format as the regular collectible minifigures – that is sealed in bags so you cannot tell which figure is inside. They will be available in the UK only from 1st July 2012 and will cost £1.99 each
For fans outside of the UK, ebay.co.uk will be your best bet 🙂

Though I live in the US, I’ve been dying to get my hands on these! I think it’s a brilliant piece of marketing and promotion, though I don’t see why they can’t make something like this for multiple countries. I’m sure they’d sell well anywhere, particularly at a time where national pride is artguably at its highest.
I’m glad they’re finally oficially available. Now I might be able to get them on ebay for a decent price!
I agree Paul,
I’d love to see a number of nations represented in this way.
I suppose the big question though would be which countries apart from GB would Lego choose and which would be left out…that would be a hard choice to make 🙂
Lego did something for international soccer with people and busses a while ago…so….why not something like it again for the Olympics
